In most cases, Juliet balconies fall under permitted development and don’t require planning permission, provided there’s no external platform and the structure doesn’t project from the building. However, it's important to confirm with the local planning authority, especially for listed buildings, conservation areas or developments with specific planning conditions. Always check site-specific requirements before installation to avoid delays.

In most cases, you won’t need planning permission to build a porch. As long as the ground area is under 3 square metres, it’s no taller than 3 metres, and it’s not within 2 metres of a boundary or road, you should be fine under permitted development. However, it’s always best to check with the local council, especially if the area is a conservation or listed building.

In the UK, the general rule is that a fence or privacy screen can be up to 2 metres high without planning permission, as long as it’s not in the front garden. If it’s near a road or pavement, the height limit is usually 1 metre. Always check with your local council if you’re unsure.
