Acoustic Panels
Are the wood veneers on the acoustic panels treated or sealed?
Treatment is not required, these are a prefinished product. Only our oiled oak acoustic panels are treated to achieve this look.
Is there a Fire Rating for the Fibrotech Acoustic Panels?
No, they are not rated as a complete panel but their parts are and they are fire resistant.
No whole PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) / Acoustic panels have the B-S1-D0 certificate, however the different parts that make up the Fibrotech panel have the rating.
How do acoustic panels work?
Acoustic panels absorb sound waves, which minimises echoes and dampens noise. By converting sound energy into heat through porous materials, acoustic wall panels and ceiling panels effectively reduce noise reflection in a room. Sound-dampening panels work on both sides to absorb sound, reducing noise in and outside the room. This makes them ideal for acoustic isolation in studios, offices, and shared spaces.
How many acoustic panels do I need?
The number of panels depends on your room size and soundproofing needs. Generally, covering 15-20% of the wall area with acoustic wall panels or sound-dampening panels is effective. Larger rooms or studios may need more panels for optimal acoustic balance.
How to install acoustic panels?
Installing acoustic panels can be straightforward if you follow these steps for the best results:
- Placement: Identifying where to place your sound-reducing panels, ideal placement spots include walls opposite speakers and near sound sources of corners.
- Preparation: Before fitting acoustic wood panels, you should clean the wall thoroughly, and if painted, ensure it’s primed before applying adhesive. Soundproof wall panels can be glued directly to a wall once the above steps are completed.
- Materials: Acoustic panel adhesive and screws are required. Each acoustic panel typically requires one 300ml tube of adhesive and 15 screws for secure mounting.
- Cutting acoustic panels: If acoustic wood panels need resizing, they can be cut to fit the desired area. We recommend using a sharp utility knife for softer materials or a saw for wood acoustic panels. Mark your measurements, score along the lines, and cut carefully for a clean edge.
What are acoustic panels?
Acoustic panels are sound-absorbing boards designed to reduce noise, enhance sound clarity, and improve acoustics in various spaces.
Where to place acoustic panels?
To experience the benefits of acoustic wall panels you should position them on walls or ceilings where sound tends to bounce or echo the most. There are also some additional installation considerations such as:
Installing acoustic ceiling panels around spotlights: this is fine as long as there is adequate space to avoid obstructing the light fixture
Installing acoustic panels on walls near fireplaces: acoustic panels are suitable for use around electric or biofuel fires only. They are not designed for installation near real fires, as heat may damage the material.
Are acoustic panels worth it?
Yes, acoustic panels are highly effective for enhancing sound quality, reducing noise and styling a room. They’re valuable for home studios, offices, and entertainment spaces where clear, comfortable acoustics are essential.
Can the Acoustic Panels be installed around ceiling spot lights?
Yes
Can the Acoustic Panels be installed surrounding a 'real' fire or are they only suitable for use around an electric fire?
Only electric and bio fuel fires.
